Depending on what side of town your work and schools may be, Matthews just might be the place for you. It is its own community and gives you a cool small-community feel just moments from 485 access, and it’s a straight shot to uptown Charlotte. The home prices are great in and around Matthews with large lots and good schools.
Just beyond the outskirts of Charlotte lies the little gem of Downtown Matthews. Steeped in history, this walkable area offers much to see and do.
In addition to the farmers’ market mentioned in last week’s post, Downtown Matthews has a nice, quaint set up. Within just a few blocks of the farmers’ market, you’ll find the town hall, Matthews’ public library, Matthews Elementary School, Stumptown Park, a variety of restaurants and an old-time hardware store. Regularly, you will also find festivals in the downtown area, such as Matthews Alive and the Matthews Rotary Fall Festival, which includes live music, a bike ride and a chili cook off!
While housing isn’t readily available in Downtown Matthews proper, there is plenty of housing nearby. There are several neighborhoods within walking distance; others are a short drive, and parking is fairly plentiful downtown.
