What to Do if You’re Spending New Year’s Eve in Charlotte
December 28, 2015 Cassee Cunningham

new year's eve plans in charlotte2015 is winding down, and 2016 is on its way. If you still don’t know where or how you’ll greet the new year, here are a few ideas for you to spend New Year’s Eve in Charlotte!

As always, there’s the “official” New Year’s Eve party for Charlotte – CLT New Year’s Eve. This year, the party is presented by Ally, and it’s all going down at Romare Bearden Park in Fourth Ward. This family-friendly, alcohol-free event begins at 6pm and includes fireworks and the annual “crown drop” at midnight.

Don’t want to worry about driving home and missing out on fun? Several area hotels have all-inclusive parties for the evening. The Westin is hosting its annual Extravaganza which includes several ballrooms with DJs spinning different types of tunes all night long. At The Ritz Carlton’s Gorgeous At The Ritz NYE 2016 event, you can dance the night away to music by DJ B-Lord and DJ Hotrod while waiting for the ball to drop. Or you can indulge in a night of SouthPark celebration with the Renaissance Charlotte SouthPark Hotel’s New Year’s Eve package, including two tickets to the Sequins and Bow Ties event, plus dinner, dancing, drinks and live music by U-Neek Flavur.

There are several options for you at the Epicentre in Uptown. You can hang at Rooftop 210’s New Year’s Eve Under the Stars. Tickets include DJ’d music, a food buffet and passed appetizers. Whisky River is also holding a celebration to ring in 2016. Tickets include: Party Favors, Ball Drop, FREE Mechanical Bull Rides, Champagne Toast at Midnight, AND the biggest DOUBLE Balloon Drop yet! And then there’s Howl at the Moon, which is offering several levels of NYE packages to kiss 2015 goodbye!

You know I love some Charlotte breweries, and Sycamore Brewing in SouthEnd is offering a low-key way to welcome 2016! At their second annual Brew Year’s Eve Celebration, you can chill, get your fill of food truck tastiness, and hang out in the heated tent with pitchers of beer and bottles of champagne.

For the foodies amongst us, there’s no better way to usher out 2015 and welcome 2016 than an amazing meal. Fahrenheit is offering a New Year’s Eve pre-set dinner menu that has something for all taste buds, not to mention the breathtaking views of the Charlotte skyline.  Tickets are $99 per person or $240 per couple. Leroy Fox’s A New York, New York New Year’s Eve Event brings a taste of the Big Apple to the Queen City. The event includes a five-course meal with a wide selection of New York City-themed cocktails. Tickets are $70.

No matter where you choose to ring in the new year, have fun and be safe! I wish you a healthy and happy 2016!
