Third Ward lies just to the west of the intersection of Trade and Tryon. It is the quadrant bounded by South Tryon on the southeast and West Trade on the northeast. Third Ward is considered by many to be Charlotte’s most dynamic neighborhood due to its walkable access to parks, the city’s central business district, and entertainment venues – with even more to come! It’s located adjacent to the Irwin Creek Greenway, which offers softball fields, running paths, and children’s playgrounds, as well as leads to Wesley Heights.
This area offers tons of entertainment and is just blocks away from all that uptown Charlotte has to offer. Third ward is home to Bank of America Stadium, The Fillmore, Knight Theatre, the Mint Museum, and the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. Gateway Village is also located in Third Ward, which is one of the state’s largest mixed-use developments containing office space, shops, restaurants, and housing.
