Shopping Local for the Holidays
December 12, 2014 Cassee Cunningham

shopping local for holiday giftsThe holidays are upon us, whether we’re prepared or not.  When it comes to shopping for your friends and loved ones, nothing says you care like shopping local for the holidays!  To help you out, here’s a few of my favorite spots in some of my favorite neighborhoods!

  • Atherton Mill and Market
This perennial favorite located in SouthEnd showcases the best that the Piedmont region has to offer from small local farms, talented chefs and artisans of a wide variety.
  • Ruby’s Gifts
This NoDa spot features one-of-a-kind, handmade items by all-local artisans. All of the art, jewelry, home goods, pottery, clothing, accessories & such carried here are crafted in and around Charlotte, NC.
  • Beadlush
Since moving to 1212 The Plaza (which was formerly a church) in Plaza Midwood, Beadlush has become a hub for local artisans.  No longer “just” a bead store, they now feature ready-made jewelry, classes for you to make your own jewelry, and a slew of vendors for everything from vintage items to paintings.
  • Boulevard at SouthEnd
Located on the corner of South Tryon and Summit Street in Historic SouthEnd Charlotte, Boulevard offers a variety of unique clothing, accessories, home decor and and housewares.
  • Slate Interiors
Representing over 90 merchants and artists, Slate is a destination shop in Plaza Midwood for exceptional finds. Their collection of original art, furniture, lighting, and accessories – most from local artists – changes daily.
  • Dilworth Artisan Station
This converted warehouse is located on the border of Dilworth and SouthEnd.  Its three floors house painters and photographers, as well as turned wood and mixed media artists.
