A few months ago, I posted about a new restaurant coming to The Penguin’s old spot in Plaza Midwood. Well, word on the street is that Comida is aiming for a late February opening, but the fine folks at Charlotte Five got a sneak peek last week.
As I mentioned in my last post on the subject, Comida is owned by Alesha Sin Vanata, also owner of LittleSpoon, a Myers Park breakfast and lunch spot on Selwyn Avenue. The plan at the time was that Comida would be an “upscale casual” eatery, dedicated to a variety of Latin flavors with a Mexican focus.
It looks like that plan is coming to fruition. According to the Charlotte Five article, “the menu is Mexican-inspired, with dishes like light snacks and street tacos — full of fresh and savory Pan-Latin flavors” and the bar “will specialize in tequila, mezcal and rum drinks”.
New to the spot is the patio. The majority of it is enclosed, and it will hold as many seats as the interior of the restaurant. While the restaurant’s interior will feature a chic, minimal look, the patio’s decor will include Astroturf walls, table heaters and amazing plants.
Comida is going to be an awesome addition to the neighborhood, and I’m excited about it’s opening! If you’re looking forward to Comida, too, and want to be able to walk to and from this upcoming hot spot, let’s find you a home in Plaza Midwood! Give me a call and let’s explore the neighborhood and its awesome homes for sale together!
