Halloween in CharlotteHalloween is upon us, and Charlotte has a lot to offer those looking for a hauntingly good time.  Here’s just a sampling of Halloween events in Charlotte:

The Amazing Maize Maze offers approximately two and a half miles of pathways in an operating cornfield. The maze challenges folks to search clues that lead to the maze. Day maze and night (flashlight) maze tickets available. Cost is $7-$15, and the maze is open Fridays-Sundays through November 3.

Tour Explore Latta Plantation by candlelight and hear real ghost stories from staff and volunteers during the Ghost Tales in the Dark Tour. Reservations are required; to register, call 704-875-2312. Cost is $15, and tours are offered October 11 at 8, 9 and 10 pm; October 12 at 7, 8, 9 and 10 pm; October 18 at 8, 9 and 10 pm and October 19 at 7, 8, 9 and 10 pm

NodaWeen is back on October 26th!  The Kidaween portion of the event runs from 12 pm to 3 pm, and the freaky 5K will begin at twilight.  Neighborhood Theatre will be playing the Rocky Horror Picture Show at midnight. Doors will open at 10 pm and the party will continue until 2 am.

Carowinds has again transformed Scarowinds, a terrifying adventure filled with mazes, monsters, and madness. Cost is $26.99-$49.99, and the park is open weekends through October 27.

Starving Artist Productions presents Dracula Bites about a playwright who adapts Bram Stoker’s Dracula. What happens next is a horror story of its own. Cost is $15-$25 and show times are October 10, 7:30 pm; October 11, 8 pm; October 12, 2 pm and 8 pm; October 16-17, 7:30 pm; October 18, 8 pm; October 19, 2 pm and 8 pm. The play is showing at Duke Energy Theater, located at 345 N. College St.

On October 25, Charlotte’s Rocky Horror Cast, That Type! presents its annual Halloween The Rocky Horror Picture Show show. This is the full Rocky Horror experience, complete with a pre-show “virgin” initiation, games, and a screening of the movie with audience participation. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/thattype. Cost $6.60 in advance via Fandango, and the show starts at 11:20 pm at Cinebarre in the Arboretum.

On October 26, WineMeDown Events presents Wicked Wine & Barbecue Festival Tour with shuttle transportation to four NC-area wineries and Lexington for its annual barbecue festival. Cost is $55.
