Closing gifts are always really fun and a little stressful for me. Mainly because I don’t believe in a one size fits all gift. I really want a closing gift for my buyers to be meaningful, relevant, and/or useful. I learn a lot from the hours I spend talking with clients about their home and lives and I want them to know that the relationship we built over the course of months was important to me.
MEANINGFUL
One of my favorite closing gifts I have ever given was a framed concert poster of a band that my buyer really loves. Expensive no, hard to find kinda, meaningful, and unexpected? Yes and yes.
Some other ideas:
- New tags for their dog with the new address
- Customized signs
- A gift that reflects their hobby
RELEVANT
I bought a set of mid-century modern barware for another client that bought a house with a fantastic built-in bar.
Some other ideas:
- A Welcome Mat
- The Ring doorbell
- Personalized address stamper
USEFUL
Another gift I loved giving was a washing machine for a first time home buyer.
Some other ideas:
- A new home photoshoot
- Garden Decor
- Tools
Closing gifts to me are a chance to say thank you, of course but it’s also an opportunity to say I know you. I was listening to you. I know what matters to you.
Some other fantastic gifts are:
- Paid time with a design consultant. Stella Home offers that service! (link)
- Artwork from a local artist or maybe their favorite artist, or an artist that will do a rendering of your buyer’s new home. Side note: I’m a local artist groupie and love using local art in my staging. See my blog to get to know some of my favorite great local artists.
- Gift receipt to a great restaurant of their choice
Closing gifts are also a way to connect the new home buyer with their neighborhood and the small businesses that are within walking distance.
For a closing gift for a buyer that moved into Commonwealth neighborhood, I collected gift certificates to
- Moxie Mercantile
- Common Market
- City Supply
- The Diamond
They were all walking distance to my buyer’s new home.
Some other ideas:
- A framed map
- A fully planned and paid for evening out in their new hood
- Flowers from a local store
Buying a home can be stressful. Wrapping up the process with a thoughtful gift is a great way to end the experience on a high note!

It is not necessary to get your agent a gift but the gesture is always appreciated. One of the best things you can do is to give your agent a referral. Referrals are an agent’s lifeline. If you found value in the agent’s service then an online review is also a great way to say Thank you. It’s the gift that keeps on giving long after the closing is over. Most agents have websites, FB pages, or a Google Business page where you can post about your experience.
