The NoDa area of Charlotte flourished in the textile industry from 1903 to 1975. The textile community actually functioned mostly as a self-contained area, separated from the city of Charlotte by farms and fields. After the closing of NoDa’s last mill in 1975, the area was pretty much forgotten until the ‘80s, when young artists with a vision of developing a new art community moved into the area.
Since then, the NoDa has grown and flourished again. The area is known for its fantastic eateries and thriving arts scene. The mills in the area, including the recently approved Mecklenburg and Johnston mills, are being refurbished for housing, and a light-rail station is planned at 36th Street near North Davidson Street within the next few years.
A great property in the NoDa neighborhood is located at 513 Patterson Street. This single-family mill house-style home has hardwood floors, new countertops, a tankless water heater, and hardi-plank siding. It also has two bedrooms, one full bath, a large laundry/mud room, a small deck and private fenced-in backyard.
