Villa Heights

About Villa Heights

Villa Heights is one of Charlotte’s inner-ring neighborhoods.  The neighborhood originated around 1900 when Charlotte real estate developer Clayton O. Brown purchased a tract of land north of the old County Home Road (which is now Parkwood Avenue) and marketed the area as Villa Heights subdivision.

Road-wise, the neighborhood is generally considered to be bordered by Parkwood Avenue/The Plaza, Clemson Avenue, Matheson Avenue, and N. Davidson St. The neighborhoods surrounding Villa Heights include Optimist Park, Belmont, Plaza Midwood, NoDa, Plaza Hills and Plaza Shamrock.

Villa Heights is close to the Little Sugar Creek Greenway.  There is an entrance across from Cordelia Park on Parkwood Avenue, right beside the Belmont Center. You can walk or ride your bike to the Siegel Avenue Park and tennis courts and continue on through uptown to the continuation of the Greenway along Kings Drive.

Plans are that Villa Heights will have two light rail stops — one at Parkwood/Brevard and one at 25th St/Brevard. This line will provide Villa Heights connectivity to the line’s stops between South Blvd near 485 and the University Area.
