I think Patios are the perfect way to enjoy summer in Charlotte.

Lucky for me, and you, Charlotte has tons of outdoor patios. If you haven’t found one in your neighborhood yet, I’m betting you haven’t looked hard enough!

THE FIG TREE RESTAURANT is my favorite patio in Charlotte. In the Elizabeth neighborhood, this restaurant is in a fantastic old home and has an amazing front porch that the owners have extended into an amazing front patio. The front porch is draped in mature wisteria vines and in early spring it smells and looks like heaven as you sit there. In the heat of the summer, you are in a cool and deeply shaded immense front porch that overlooks fig trees and has string lights dancing across the patio. This porch, a French Rose and a girl friend is sublime. 1601 E 7th St
PECULIAR RABBIT offers a chilled atmosphere with a long distance view of the city. The rooftop patio is one reason this is a Plaza Midwood favorite. 1212 Pecan Avenue
THE OLDE MECKLENBURG BREWERY has a great outdoor space with lots of shade and lots of room (It’s also on my list of family friendly breweries! 4150 Yancey Road
KID CASHEW has a patio that faces East Boulevard. Greenery and sparkly lights are the perfect mix for this cozy little gathering spot. It’s partly covered and partly open so it gives you some options. 1608 East Boulevard
MERCHANT AND TRADE is a see and be seen kind of patio in Uptown (OK, technically it might be more of a rooftop bar than a patio but it’s worth checking out!). Your view is from 19 floors up with sweeping views of the city. 303 S. Church St.
Patio’s don’t have to be fancy to be good and they don’t have to have a view to have a good vibe.

SELWYN PUB has been a popular spot since it opened in Myers Park in 1990. It’s an unpretentious patio in the front of an old house. Charlotte Agenda named it one of their favorites too. 2801 Selwyn Avenue

Because enjoying summer in Charlotte is easy. All you really need is a spot to soak in the beautiful Carolina weather, catch up with a few friends, and get a good drink or a bite to eat with the promise of longer days and a slower pace.
