festivals in charlotte realtor cassie cunninghamApril showers bring May flowers, but May brings some serious fun at festivals in Charlotte! Here’s a run-down of a few I’m looking forward to over the next few weeks:

  • SouthEnd Hops Festival
This Saturday, craft beer will be celebrated at the corner of Carson and Mint, in the heart of SouthEnd. At least 30 breweries will be represented at the dog-friendly fest, and food trucks and live music will round things out. The event will benefit RescuedMe, a cause that rescues dogs that otherwise have no hope of survival, rehabilitates them and places them in loving homes.
  • The Charlotte Arab American Festival
On Sunday, Queens University in Myers Park will host this celebration of Arab music, dance, food, pastries, games, arts and crafts and more. The event is sponsored by the Arab American Council of the Carolinas, a community-based network of individuals and organizations that highlight the contributions of the Arab American community in the Carolinas.
  • Lost Hollow Music Fest
Also this weekend, you’ll find live music at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden at this tribute to Muddy Waters. Saturday’s band line-up features artists that played with Muddy Waters, as well as Waters’ oldest son; Sunday’s line-up features local and up-and-coming bands that you will want to know!
  • Charlotte VegFest
This annual festival has a new home this year – instead of being on the streets of Plaza Midwood, you’ll find it indoors at the Grady Cole Center in Elizabeth on May 21st from 11am to 4pm. This celebration of healthy, sustainable, and compassionate eating explores the endless benefits of vegetarian living and will feature a variety of vegan foods, local veg restaurants and food trucks, local vendors, live music, speakers, nutritional experts, vegan cooking demonstrations, free prizes, gift bags and more!
  • Festa Italiana
On May 22nd, Myers Park will be the location of this annual festival, which will also be held on the campus of Queens University. This is the 11th year for this festival, and one of the many things that make it great is that you can eat and drink all day for one ticket-price donation. Festa Italiana Charlotte benefits Nevins, helping special people do extraordinary things since 1959.
  • Speed Street
This one is the be all, end all of May festivals in Charlotte. Running through the heart of Uptown Charlotte on Tryon Street, this year’s festival – the 22nd annual – will be held May 26th through 28th. With live musical entertainment, appearances by top NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers and celebrities, dynamic exhibits for all ages and an amazing assembly of NASCAR show cars and simulators, this is an event not to be missed.
