During the 1970s and 80s, Charlotte’s Eastside was one of the hottest growth areas in Mecklenburg County, particularly for residential and retail development. Today, “diverse” is a term often used to describe the Eastside, an area which covers nearly 44 square miles, generally extending from Eastway Drive to the west, The Plaza/Plaza Road Extension to the north, Monroe Road to the south and the Charlotte City limits to the east. Some of the Eastside’s better-known and well-established neighborhoods include:
Commonwealth Park
Country Club Heights
Merry Oaks
Oakhurst
Plaza-Shamrock
Sheffield Park
Windsor Park
