I’ve been thinking about love and Valentine’s Day. When I started planning a nice day for me and my hubby, Kurt, I realized we wouldn’t even need to get in our car for the perfect day here in our beloved neighborhood of Elizabeth.
Elizabeth is Charlotte’s most walkable neighborhood. Of course, there are many breweries and great places to get a bite to eat, but you can also walk to get everything you need on a daily basis. I can’t think of a better way to illustrate that than walking you through my Valentine’s day plans.
COFFEE AND A VIEW
We are going to begin the day with a nice brisk walk through the neighborhood and across the Hawthorne bridge. It has the best morning sun and the best view of uptown Charlotte. It’s also on our way to the best coffee in Charlotte, Central Coffee Co.. It’s owned and operated by our friends and clients, Jimmy and Louisa Kleto. After a brisk walk and a cup of joe to begin our day, it’s time for our next stop.
SAY AAAAHHHHHH
I booked us a yoga class and deep tissue massage at Okra Charlotte. It’s located on Commonwealth in a cute and bustling small business district just blocks from our doorstep. It’s a one-stop-shop for relaxation and health.
TIME FOR LUNCH
It’s time for lunch. After our morning of walking, coffee, yoga and massage we are going to be hungry and there are so many options to choose from. We could stay in this area and have fresh latin ceviche at Calle Sol. Or, we could grab a loaded sandwich at Common Market. We could put in a few more steps and head to The People’s Market on Elizabeth Ave. I have a hankering for their vegan fried chicken and Kurt loves their BLT.
PRIMPED AND PAMPERED
After a lovely lunch it’s time to go our separate ways to get ready for our evening. I want to look my best so I have a couple of stops to make. First, I’ll have my hair trimmed by the master of the coiffe, Lesley Reitzel of Clio salon. Next, it’s time for a mani/pedi at Tip Toe nail boutique. I’d love a little something special and unique to wear so I’ll stop by my favorite vintage store, East 8th Vintage.
KEEP THE FUR BABIES HAPPY
Although it’s not sexy or romantic, we need cat food. So, Kurt will pick up our pet’s favorite vittles from our independently owned and operated neighborhood store, Pet Supplies Plus.
A NIGHT FOR ROMANCE
We end our lovely Valentine’s day with a reservation for dinner at the most lovely and romantic restaurant in Charlotte, The Fig Tree. Situated in a beautiful space in a historic Elizabeth home, this place has impeccable service, the best wine list in Charlotte and a remarkable menu perfectly prepared.
What a perfect day! Happy Valentine’s Day. If you want to love where you live, give me a call.
