small business saturdaySmall Business Saturday, an annual event sponsored by American Express, is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country, and  is celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  This year, that’s November 30th.

If you’re a regular reader, you know small, local businesses are near and dear to my heart.  You also know that there are a ton of these shops around Charlotte.  So here’s a short list of spots to shop on Small Business Saturday in Charlotte.

  • Pura Vida Worldly Art – Located in NoDa, this gift store and art gallery promotes fair trade and international art and cultures,  carrying items from over 40 countries.

  • Yarnhouse – Also in NoDa, this place is the hookup if you’re a knitter or know one!  They offer wide array of colorful yarns in all weights and styles, as well as classes and a space to get or give advice.

  • Custom – Need a great piece of jewelry?  Custom in NoDa is your go-to.  From everyday to eclectic pieces, they offer design as well as repair services.

  • The Boulevard at South End – This great little spot has it all – clothing, accessories, gifts, decor and more!

  • Beadlush – This great shop recently relocated across the street from their former location in Plaza Midwood.  Now located at 1212 The Plaza, in a former church, they now offer not just beads and beading classes, but wares from other vendors that include ready-made jewelry, cloth, antique and vintage items and more!

  • Slate Interiors – Another Plaza Midwood favorite, Slate represents nearly 90 merchants and artists.  This is a destination shop for exceptional design finds, and they carry a daily-changing collection of original art, furniture, lighting, and accessories.
