The 2017 SEED20 class of finalists has been announced. Before the competition happens on March 27, here’s what you need to know.
According to the SEED20 website, the program is Social Venture Partners’ “annual program to identify, spotlight and support our region’s most innovative ideas for tackling pressing social challenges. Our vision is that the greater Charlotte area will be a community that embraces our nonprofit entrepreneurs and provides a supportive environment for innovative and impactful individuals and organizations.”
Each year, 20 non-profits are chosen at the beginning of the program. Over the course of a couple month, these participants are given training, feedback, coaching, and mentoring on how to tell their story. Then a class of 10 finalists are chosen for SEED20 OnStage where the finalists give three minute pitches to a panel of judges, as well as an audience of over 700 people. The winners of the event are awarded money to put towards their causes. Immediately after the event, though, a celebration is held where all 20 non-profits can network with the audience to share more about their causes.
