Memorial Day is this Monday. Yes it’s a great excuse to get away for the weekend, hit some festivals, or just enjoy that extra Monday off. As you are sipping a chilled beer by the pool and waiting for the burgers to grill, please take a moment to remember why we have this day off. It’s to remember our fallen soldiers, men & women, who have paid the highest sacrifice in the name of freedom and democracy.
Memorial Day holds a special place in my heart. I served in the United States Coast Guard for eleven years. My brother Curtis was in the Army. My father served in the Korean War. We served and, fortunately, we didn’t lose our lives doing so. My appreciation for the men & women who have died during their service is immense.
Memorial Day is a perfect time to celebrate life with family and friends. It’s also a great time to give a moment of silence and appreciation for those that have fought.
