If you’ve been a reader for a while, you may remember that it was noted as far back as January 2015 that I was a fan of The Daily Press, the pop up coffee shop that operated during the day in The Evening Muse in NoDa. I was bummed when they closed, as I’m sure a lot of people were. But we need be bummed no more! Lindsey Pitman, former owner of The Daily Press, is back at it on the Charlotte coffee scene as a partner of Hyde Brewing!
The full concept of Hyde Brewing won’t be complete until early 2017. It will be located at 2911 Griffith St., on The Rail Trail at the New Bern Station, and will house a master brewing facility, café, and laboratory. The concept is a bit science (like taking into consideration how the minerals in the water used for brewing affect the taste), a bit social (like sourcing from ethically environmentally responsible folks), and a bit environmental (like having an RO system that recycles water in the new facility).
In the meantime, we can all get a taste of Hyde Brewing’s wares as they operate a pop-up coffee shop in the Goodyear Arts Building at 516 N. College St. in Fourth Ward. They’re there Wednesday through Saturday, 9am to 6pm. The menu is ever-changing, but there is a selection of filtered coffees, teas and espresso.
