When people talk about ‘building their dream home!’ there is a twinkle in the eye, a child-like anticipation of seeing their vision unfold, and the belief that all things are possible.
And they ARE… mostly, under the right conditions. There are nuances of the process that you might not have fully considered when you jumped into the project. I’m talking about the part involving budgets and timelines, building fantasies, and pitfalls.
That’s ok. You aren’t alone. Let me enlighten you. One of my favorite Charlotte builders/architects/designers was recently part of a project that dug into what it really looks like to build a dream home.
I have had the pleasure of working with Toby Witte many times. His boutique design-build firm, Wittehaus, specializes in innovative, energy-efficient, luxury modern homes. I find his approach inspiring and his work flawless.
Witte says his purpose is to elevate the magic of every home owner’s life experience. I love that! And he does exactly that one modern house at a time.
Witte is part of the Brick and Wonder Community which seeks to connect real estate and design professionals around the world to share knowledge and resources, execute projects and grow. They recently partnered with the Financial Times in London on a video panel series called Building Your Dream Home.
You can imagine you’ll see some amazing properties from Idaho to London!
The series looked at everything from how to select a property and assemble a team, to the complexities that take place in the design and build process and the reveal of an architect-designed home at the end of a project.
The architects, designers, builders on the panels are top of the line and their information is insightful.
I encourage you to check it out if you are interested in building your own dream home one day!
