Live the Life in Mountainbrook

mountainbrook neighborhood charlotte cassie cunninghamWith its prime location, Mountainbrook is a neighborhood that has it all!

Mountainbrook is situated just minutes from the SouthPark area and a mere five miles south of Uptown.  But you’d never know that once you enter the neighborhood.  As a well-established neighborhood in Charlotte, Mountainbrook offers on large wooded lots not found in newer developments.  The neighborhood has homes built between 1960 and 1980, roughly. There are fantastic split levels, 70s moderns, and postmodern ranches.  And with where the neighborhood sits, kids in Mountainbrook have access to some of the best schools in the CMS system.

Mountainbrook is also known for its Swim and Racquet Club.  While membership to the club is optional, membership has its benefits, as the old American Express slogan goes.  The club features 4 lighted tennis courts with discounted membership to an additional 3 indoor and 3 outdoor courts for full members, swimming and wading pools, men’s and women’s locker rooms, and courtside and poolside seating and tables. The club also has an amazing social calendar and offers a programs such as recreational swimming, swim team, swim lessons, summer camps, recreational and league tennis, and tennis lessons.

Access to amenities is no problem when you live in Mountainbrook.  If shopping is your thing, SouthPark Mall and Phillips Place are minutes from the neighborhood.  You’ll also find fine dining there, as well as at Piedmont Row.  For those that place a priority on health, Whole Foods is in the vicinity, too.

So what do I love about Mountainbrook?

  1. Value.  If your family needs square footage, a small home in Mountainbrook is 2000 square feet. Average price per square foot is $150, so this is a fantastic bargain.  In comparison, Dilworth’s average price per square foot is $250.
  1. Accessability. I have mentioned “pod neighborhoods” in the past.  These are subdivisions that are one way in one way out.  Mountainbrook is NOT a pod neighborhood.  It can be accessed by Sharon, Colony, and Carmel roads.
  1. Walkability. Although you may not have a coffee shop in the neighborhood, just as important, you have miles of winding safe streets to jog, walk, and ride bikes.  Mountainbrook seamlessly connects to other neighborhoods with safe quiet streets.  You won’t get bored exploring this area on your morning jog.
