If you attend the Renaissance Festival this weekend, you’ll get the added entertainment of the Celtic Music Jam!
The Celtic Music Jams were set up in honor of Regis Rowland Malady Jr. and John Trexler, two champions of Celtic music in the area. During the jam weekend, special guest musicians and festival minstrels perform Celtic music throughout the fair. A memorial jam session in Regis’ and John’s honors will be held at the Royal Pavilion at 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
On top of all the musical fun, “Hunky Highlanders and non-kilt wearing men” (as they’re called on the Renaissance Festival’s website) are invited to prove their worth in the Men of Skills Competition. This competition includes a Test of Strength, a Test of Confidence, and a Test of Skill. Prizes will be awarded, so bring your best selves, men!
The Renaissance Festival runs from 10am to 5:30pm on Saturday and Sunday. (If you can’t make it this weekend for the Celtic Music Jam, the festival will be open weekends through November 20th.) The site of the festival is 16445 Poplar Tent Rd in Huntersville, and it’s open rain or shine. So get out there and have a great time! Huzzah!
