Construction Outlook Good in the South

Construction Outlook Good in the South
March 20, 2014 Cassee Cunningham

construction outlook good in southIn survey results released recently by the Associated General Contractors of America, the South is the most optimistic about the commercial real estate construction outlook in the upcoming year and into 2015.

In the South, respondents showed more confidence in the demand for new retail, warehouse and lodging projects, as well as new offices, hospitals and higher education facilities.  In this survey, the South is considered Georgia, North and South Carolina, Texas and the District of Columbia.

This confidence was echoed across the US in the survey results, but showed more so in the South.

Also according to the survey, many construction companies plan to hire this year, and relatively few plan to make layoffs. Construction companies are also looking at adding new equipment and growing into new market opportunities.

This is great news as new construction means new jobs, both during construction and in the buildings that are constructed.  This could mean a boon in the real estate market as folks relocate for those new jobs.
