Charlotte NC SkylineIf you’re a Millennial, apparently Charlotte is one of the top spots for you!  According to recent reports on three separate websites, Charlotte is in the top 25 places to live for Millennials.

Apartments.com listed Charlotte as #2 on its list of top cities for recent college graduates.  Factors included in the ranking of the cities included median rent for a one-bedroom apartment, unemployment rates and affordability.  As the site says: “The southern hospitality of this world-class city appeals to both its large number of residents who are under 30 while attracting new grads. As the second largest banking center in the United States, the Queen City not only offers a multitude of jobs in the financial sector, but is also home to industrial technology companies and steel producers. With a vibrant culture catering to young adults coupled with a strong economy and affordable rents, it’s no surprise Charlotte, N.C. landed the #2 spot.”

On Forbes.com and Niche.com, Charlotte ranked #18 on the lists of top 25 cities and neighborhoods for Millennials.  They ranked Third Ward as the top neighborhood, which is also home to the Charlotte Knights’ new BB&T Ballpark, the Carolina Panthers’ Bank of America Stadium and Johnson & Wales University’s Charlotte campus. To create the latest list, the websites analyzed data from cities and metro areas with 1 million or more residents. The study looked at U.S. Census and FBI information, as well as surveys taken during the past four years that involved nearly 500,000 college students and graduates.  Factors also included the percentage of the population identified as Millennials (ages 25 to 34), median income, education level, racial diversity, nightlife, cultural attractions, shopping and professional sports.

Charlotte is also a great city to buy your first home!  There are so many options for first-time buyers in amazing investment neighborhoods. Buying a great first home in an up-and-coming neighborhood will set Millennials up for financial success.  Give me a call to talk about your Charlotte home buying choices.
